Who is Arshdeep Singh?

Arshdeep Singh is a young fast bowler in the Indian national team who bowls left arm and bats left handed. However, he is primarily in the Indian cricket team for his bowling abilities. Arshdeep Singh’s international career started in July 2022 and he was included in the national team of India. However, earlier Arshdeep Singh has been a part of the victorious Indian team in the 2018 ICC U19 Under-19 World Cup.

On 7 July 2022, he made his debut in T20 cricket for the first time against England. However, he has not yet made his international debut in Test cricket and ODI cricket. After making his debut in international cricket, Arshdeep Singh was also included in the Indian team for the Asia Cup 2022. And is currently playing for the Indian national team in the T20 World Cup.

Arshdeep was very interested in cricket since he was only 13 years old. At the age of 13, he started playing cricket with his school team. He had his early education at Guru Nanak Public School, Chandigarh. His first coach’s name was Jaswant Roy.

Which controversy was Arshdeep Singh involved in?

Arshdeep Singh was unnecessarily embroiled in controversies because of idiotic internet users. An unregistered user edited Arshdeep Singh’s Wikipedia page and linked his name to the separatist Khalistani movement in Punjab. Arshdeep Singh’s nationality was changed from Indian to Khalistani and his name was changed from Arshdeep Singh to Major Arshdeep Singh Langra.

When this matter was brought to the Wikipedia editors’ notice, they made the necessary changes and revealed that the changes were done by an unregistered user with a Pakistani IP address.

Apart from this, Arshdeep Singh had to face a lot of criticism even after dropping the catch against Pakistan in Asia Cup 2022 on 5th November.

Arshdeep Singh also played state level matches for Punjab and Chandigarh teams at the domestic level.

Rise to national fame

2017 witnessed Arshdeep Singh’s first ever national level career highlight. The young bowler scalped seven wickets in the Challenger Trophy while representing India Red. Seeing the excellent bowling of Arshdeep Singh and this performance, he was included in the camp of the Indian youth team for the Under-19 World Cup in 2018. Arshdeep Singh bowled brilliantly in the 2018 Under-19 World Cup and India also won the Under-19 World Cup title.

Arshdeep Singh made his international youth cricket debut on 10 November 2017 against Malaysia under-19 team.

IPL debut

In the year 2018, Kings XI Punjab included Arshdeep Singh in their squad for IPL 2019. For the first time on 16 April 2019, Arshdeep Singh made his 20-20 debut in IPL playing for Kings XI Punjab.

In June 2021, he was included among the 5 net bowlers in the match between India and Sri Lanka.

Arshdeep Singh made his debut for the first time in the T20I match between India and England on 7 July 2022. After this, he was included in the Indian team for the Asia Cup 2022. During this, he also bowled well.

However, he also faced a lot of criticism (undeserved) for dropping a catch against Pakistan during the Asia Cup. But recovering from all this, Arshdeep Singh gave his best performance through his excellent bowling.

Arshdeep Singh was also included in the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup 2022. He bowled consistently well, leading India to victory in matches against Bangladesh and other teams. The young Arshdeep Singh is one of the best bowlers of the T20 cricket format today.
