About 8 years ago, Sumit Antil became a victim of a road accident and lost his left leg. But Sumit, who has always shown an indomitable spirit, has achieved his miraculous feat because of the basis of his hard work and passion by winning the gold medal in the Tokyo Paralympics 2020.

After the road accident, Sumit Antil’s dream of becoming a wrestler was shattered but he did not get disappointed and decided to move ahead in the sports world. According to the information received, in the year 2018, Sumit Antil met Asian Games silver medalist Virendra Dhankhar and Dhankhar made Sumit meet Naval Singh, the javelin throw coach of AFI para-athletes at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi.

After meeting Sumit Antil, coach Naval Singh advised him to become a javelin thrower and Sumit Antil worked very hard and sweated a lot to become a javelin thrower.

Sumit Antil had won the silver medal in the World Para Athletics Championship held in the year 2019 and with this Sumit Antil qualified for the Tokyo Paralympics 2020.

Sumit Antil had also thrown the javelin to a record distance of 66.90 meters in the F44 category in the National Para Athletics Championship – March 2021.
