Erwin Bach, born on January 24, 1956 in Cologne, was also Tina Turner’s manager and producer. So it goes without saying that the last and true love of Tina Turner, remained at the bedside of the star until his death. Looking back since the 90s, the German-born man has been accompanying Tina Turner. But today, the whole world pays vibrant tributes to Tina Turner since the announcement of her death. In the rock legend’s town of residence, Küsnacht, candles and flowers were laid by her fans in front of the entrance gate to Villa Algonquin. Let’s turn back the clock and see how their story began rather than just see the couple’s ending. We take a look at their life together.

Erwin Bach: Who Was Tina Turner’s Husband? Is He Rich Now?

Tina Turner managed to find happiness with the music producer:

Born in Cologne in 1956, Erwin Bach is best known for having been the director of the EMI label in Germany. A record label of great renown, which collaborated on the albums of Queen, Paul McCartney, Pink Floyd or even Radiohead.

Tina Turner in her autobiography, confided that her second husband, “the man of her life”, had taught her to “love without needing to get lost”. “We allow ourselves the freedom and space to be individuals at the same time that we are a couple,” she wrote. And to continue: “Erwin, who is a force of nature, has never been intimidated by my career, my talents or my fame. It shows me that true love does not require the dimming of my light in order to shine.

Erwin Bach and Tina Turner were a match not made in heaven but in Germany:

The story of a lightning strike in 1985, on the tarmac of a German airport. A thunderbolt that the “tigress”, usually so discreet about her private life is never tired of telling.

Between them, a look was enough. Tina Turner, a music icon who died on May 24 at the age of 83, following a long illness, had met her second husband, Erwin Bach, in 1985, on the tarmac of Düsseldorf airport in Germany.

As a survivor of domestic violence, the one who had fled from the grip of her first husband and musical partner Ike Turner, almost a decade earlier, Tina met her great love who would accompany her until her final days. In other words, it was only after splitting from her then-husband, Ike Turner, that the singer took flight as a musician and experienced this new love as a real renewal of life.

Tina and Erwin shared a 16 year gap:

“He was 16 years younger than me, so 30 at the time and had the prettiest face. It was crazy, I thought: “Where does he come from?” He was really handsome. My heart was beating so fast and my hands were shaking”, she confided in March 2021, during a cross interview with Erwin Bach, music producer, in the documentary Tina, released on HBO.

“Her manager Roger Davies had asked me to pick her up (…), he said. Normally I should have been nervous, but I wasn’t.

After this car ride, the two begin to see each other; first as friends, then as lovers.

Tina and Erwin married in 2013:

Although their age difference feeds all kinds of rumors Erwin and Tina quickly settle down together, on the side of Switzerland, where the producer and singer married on July 21, 2013, after 27 years of relationship. Their union was pronounced in a civil ceremony on the shores of Lake Zurich in Küsnacht, near their home on July 21, 2013.

Erwin Bach was at Turner’s side when she learned she was suffering from serious cancer in 2016 and also when she suffered a stroke in 2013.

As Tina hit her 70s, she was also hit with a string of diseases:

At the time, Erwin was 57 years old. She is already 74 but after three years of marriage, Tina Turner has a string of health problems:

  • colon cancer diagnosed in 2016,
  • then kidney pain which earned her an emergency kidney transplant.

“Erwin became aware of the reality of my death. With deep emotion, he declared that he didn’t want to lose me, that he didn’t want another woman, or another life. That he was ready to do anything to keep us together,” she explained in her 2020 memoir, Happiness Becomes You: A Guide to Changing Your Life for Good. Proof of ultimate love, he offers to donate his kidney to her.

The transplant between lovers on April 7, 2017:

After spending years under the blows of a violent husband, Tina Turner had finally met a selfless human being. Erwin was present at Tina Turner’s side throughout her career and played a key role in the singer’s well-being and recovery, especially during her battle against the disease and her kidney transplant in 2017: he is the one who donated a kidney to his wife, who was seriously ill at the time. This act gave her 6 more years on the earth.

It must be said that the star had so far known the opposite when she was married in 1962 to Ike Turner, with whom she shared the stage.

In fact, Tina often confided in the sixteen years of hell with the musician. “When he started cocaine, things got worse (…) Sex with Ike boiled down to hostility, it was a kind of rape, especially when it started or ended with a beating”, confessed the singer who despite repeated hospital stays and broken jaws gave birth in 1960, to Ronnie Turner who unfortunately passed from this lifetime to another in December 2022, at the age of 62.

Tina Turner had another child two years earlier in 1958 from her relationship with saxophonist Raymond Hill. Named Craig, the boy killed himself in 2018, at the age of 60. “The saddest moment for a mother,” she captioned a photo on her Instagram account, showing her on a boat, ready to throw a rose in the water in memory of her son. At her side, her eternal, Erwin Bach, is pointing to the horizon.

If the two have never had children, it is to him that we owe having accompanied Tina in the most difficult moments of her life as they had promised in their vows.

So who will the star’s $250 million go to after her death?

Now to the question of who will get Tina Turner’s colossal fortune and most impressive heritage. With her personal fortune estimated at more than 250 million dollars the 83-year-old American singer leaves behind her second husband, Erwin Bach, whom she married in 2013.

A wave of tributes swept through the media and social networks following this announcement and the questions of her wealth also spread. After all, the American singer survived the death of both of her children Ronnie and Craig Turner. Craig had killed himself at the age of 60 years in 2018, while Ronnie, the ex-husband of Afida Turner, was found dead in 2022 following a cardiovascular disease. Without any heirs does the money go to Erwin Bach alone?

The answer is that we do not know but the singer may have decided to share her fortune or decided to bequeath everything to Erwin Bach,

Tina Turner raised two children who were not hers therefore, three other heirs are those of her first husband Ike Turner.

In other words, her ex-husband’s kids (Ike Turner Jr. and Michel Turner) were adopted by the singer in 1962. The last person to be able to benefit from this inheritance, is Afida Turner, the ex-daughter-in-law of the star.

During Tina Turner’s lifetime, she had been married to Ronnie Turner for a decade. Afida Turner also spoke on the issue of inheritance describing the most likely scenario of sharing the immense fortune of her ex-mother-in-law.
