Rosie Huntington is popular for being a Victoria’s Secret lingerie model and as a successful movie actress. This Victoria’s Secret Angel was born on April 18, 1987. Her most well-known roles include being the face of Burberry’s 2011 brand fragrance Burberry Body, working with Marks & Spencer, and, most recently, working on an artistic partnership with denim-focused fashion brand Paige.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley was born in Plymouth, Devon, England, and is the daughter of chartered surveyor Charles Andrew Huntington-Whiteley and fitness instructor Fiona Yvonne, the daughter of Alan Jackson of Buckinghamshire. She has a brother and a sister who are her younger siblings. She was raised on a farm near Tavistock, Devon. Her paternal great-grandfather, Wing-Commander Eric Huntington-Whiteley, JP, was the younger son of politician Sir Herbert.
Whiteley, 1st Baronet, and the nephew of George Whiteley, 1st Baron Marchamley; Rosie’s great-grandmother, Enid Etta Cohn, originated from a Polish Jewish family that immigrated to England in the 1870s. Gillian, the paternal grandmother of Rosie, originated from a Jewish family and was the daughter of West Chiltington, Sussex, surgeon Jacob Franks.
She attended Tavistock College and then stated that her small breasts, full lips, and double-barrelled name caused her to be teased and bullied at school.
Career as a Model
She was a 15-year-old student at the West End Model agency before she took up GCSEs. After graduating from high school in the summer of 2003, at the age of sixteen, she signed on as a model for a Levi’s advertisement, which was her first big project. In January 2004, while traveling to New York City for a Teen Vogue photoshoot, she received her big break. Later, in the spring of 2004, she debuted on the catwalk alongside Naomi Campbell in New York City. Bruce Weber then took her picture for Abercrombie & Fitch.
Before 2008, when she was chosen by chief creative director Christopher Bailey to replace Agyness Deyn in Burberry’s Autumn/Winter campaign with actor Sam Riley, Huntington-Whiteley was unknown outside of the fashion industry. Alongside Eden Clark and Jourdan Dunn, she was featured on the cover of British Vogue’s November 2008 issue, which celebrated British models. She served as the face of Karen Millen’s Spring/Summer 2009 advertising campaign the following year. She played a woman whose boyfriend forgets Valentine’s Day in a short film for the Agent Provocateur lingerie line.

She appeared in advertisements for Godiva and Miss Sixty for the Fall/Winter 2009 season. She participated in the yearly Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in New York City in February 2010 after formally becoming a Victoria’s Secret Angel. She announced the next year that she would not be walking the carpet and has since said that she was “well aware of the short shelf-life a model has” when she left Victoria’s Secret to pursue other opportunities.
She posed naked for the Pirelli Calendar in 2010, which was photographed by Terry Richardson. She walked the runways for Parisian designer Giles Deacon and Milan’s Prada. Her SS10 campaigns featured Thomas Wylde, Full Circle, VS Online, and Monsoon’s debut underwear line. It was revealed in May 2010 that Whiteley would take Megan Fox’s place as the new female lead in Transformers: Dark of the Moon, which was released on June 29, 2011. This also led to fights between Megan and the movie director. She worked previously with Michael Bay, the film’s director, on a Victoria’s Secret ad. She was chosen as the Breakout Stars to Watch for in 2011 on NextMovie.com by MTV Networks. She won the 2011 CinemaCon Awards’ “Female Star of Tomorrow” title before the movie’s premiere. Rankin, a fashion photographer, dedicated an entire book to her, Ten Times Rosie. Whiteley, according to Rankin, offered something unique to the modeling world: “For a long time, we’ve been looking at very, very skinny, almost masculine girls. Right now, Rosie is the definition of style. She will undoubtedly grow into something very, very significant.” Whiteley has been a longtime collaborator of celebrity makeup artist Ruby Hammer, who called her the “quintessential” English rose.
Whiteley appeared on the covers of Elle and GQ in the UK, as well as her first solo British Vogue cover. In July 2011, she made an appearance as the face of Burberry Body, the brand’s newest fragrance. In the 2013 Marks & Spencer Christmas commercial, Huntington-Whiteley starred with David Gandy and Helena Bonham Carter. In addition, she was named the new face of the Australian cosmetics company ModelCo.
Whiteley appeared in her second film, Mad Max: Fury Road, which was released in May 2015. She portrayed The Splendid Angharad, one of Immortan Joe’s Five Wives, the warlord. She wore a prosthetic abdomen throughout the movie to represent her pregnant character.
She launched her website “Rose Inc.” shortly after the birth of her first child. Initially, the page functioned as a beauty publication in addition to its YouTube and Instagram accounts. The company began offering its own line of clean skincare products and makeup in August 2021.
She has been in a relationship with actor Jason Statham since 2010. Her representative announced their engagement in January 2016. On June 24, 2017, their son was born. She revealed they were expecting their second child together in August 2021. On February 2, 2022, their daughter was born.
“I got a work placement at a modeling agency and then I spent the week making coffee and picking up the phone and smoking cigarettes and drinking wine at 11 AM, it was very Ab Fab,” she said in an interview with David Letterman. She last smoked publicly in 2012 and has since quit.
