Gabriel Veron Fonseca de Souza, referred to as Gabriel Veron, is a Brazilian expert footballer who plays as a winger or forward for Primeira Liga for Porto club. He started his profession at Palmeiras, showing up and scoring 14 Goals while winning distinctions remembering the Copa Libertadores for 2020 and 2021. In 2022, he joined Porto for €10.25 million and has been popular since for making a mark in the football industry at such a young age.

In this article, we’ll talk more about Gabriel’s early life, his career trajectory so far, and much more.

Early Life and Family

Veron was born in Assu, Rio Grande do Norte, on 3 September 2002 where he wished to follow his dad’s profession as a cowboy. His center name was recognized for Argentina worldwide by Juan Sebastián Verón; a neighbor had three little girls and wanted to see a kid named after his number 1 player, a wish conceded by Veron’s mom.

Carlos Eduardo de Souza, Gabriel’s father, is a cowboy and a host who insists that his son follow in his footsteps. His mother, Graciele Fonseca, on the other hand, is a stay-at-home mother.

Gabriel Veron’s family used to reside in a modest home on an unpaved, arid dirt road. Veron grew up on a livestock farm run by his family. Early on, he turned down his father’s request that he work in the fields and tend to cows and horses for the rest of his life. The father and son duo did not get along with that before. Gabriel Veron and his father actually had disagreements since he was exclusively focused on football.

His mother anticipated her son’s failure in the profession of cowboy and horse caretaker. Rather, she decided to support him and looked forward to playing football professionally. Her husband wasn’t pleased when she advised her son to abandon the family’s previous profession.

All he wanted was to go to a local football school that catered to his kind of thing like any other typical boy from the semi-arid region of Rio Grande do Norte. Veron was captivated by people who saw him play a good game of futsal. He received a full scholarship from the private school IPI (Instituto Padre Ibiapina) in Assú because of his gameplay.

Veron won his very first medal and trophy while playing futsal. He was the competition’s star player and his team won. Gabriel’s dream in life was to hone his talent in the hopes of being called for a football trial. Large clubs from outside his town would frequently come in to recruit boys his age back then, as they do now.

His greatest childhood dream was to be able to play football in a more affluent region of Brazil and move from his desert hometown. It’s not just him; other boys are involved as well. They were really hoping to be the next Dani Alves.

Veron joined Palmeiras’ youth arrangement in 2017, from the nearby side St Nick Cruz de Natal. In June 2018, he became the top goalscorer and the best player of the Mundial de Clubes de La Comunidad de Madrid Sub-17, assisting the under-17 team in lifting their most memorable international cup.

On 14 November 2018, Veron marked his most memorable professional arrangement with Verdão, until 2021. Around one year after the fact, in the wake of getting back from global obligation, he consented to a pre-contract until 2024, which was active on his eighteenth birthday celebration.

Veron made his most memorable group – and Série A – debut on 28 November 2019, coming on as a last part substitute for Willian in a 1-0 away misfortune against Fluminense. On 5 December, in the wake of coming on just in the second half, he scored two times and gave help to Dudu in a 5-1 home rout of Goiás; thus, he turned into the second-most youngest player to score for the club.

Veron scored the lone goal in Palmeiras’ run to win the Copa do Brasil in 2020 on November 5, during Abel Ferreira’s first game as manager, in a last-16 home victory over Red Bull Bragantino. Six days later, Veron scored the same goal in a 3-0 quarterfinal victory over Ceará. He scored two goals in the second leg of the round of 16 against Delfín and the team’s 5-0 victory over Tigre in the final group game at Allianz Parque to help the team win the Copa Libertadores.

After winning the Libertadores for the third time in a row, Palmeiras fielded young players on November 30, 2021. Veron scored to cap a 3-1 victory at Cuiabá, but he was dismissed with a second yellow card for taking off his shirt. At the age of 19, he had six titles after the team defeated São Paulo in the 2022 Campeonato Paulista.

Veron signed a €10.25 million contract to play for Porto in the Portuguese Primeira Liga on July 22, 2022. Eight days later, at the Estádio Municipal de Aveiro, he made his debut in the Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira, playing the last three minutes of a 3-0 victory over Tondela.

International Career

Veron, who is a regular for the Brazil under-17 team, was named on September 20, 2019, by Guilherme Dalla Déa’s 21-man roster for the FIFA U-17 World Cup. A consistent starter throughout the tournament, he scored three goals to help his team win the trophy for the fourth time and went on to win the Golden Ball.
